Reinforcing method for orthotropic steel deck structure of bridges

This method reduces the area of retrofitting work for a fatigue damage on orthotropic steel deck plates by applying high-strength concrete panels (precast Ductal panels) only on the area of load effect according to the damaged site.
Furthermore, using only 40mm thick panels as the reinforcement materials allows human powered construction, which makes it possible to conduct the retrofitting work only with a partial lane restriction.

Features of this method are as follows:

  1. Composite structure with precast panels laying over the orthotropic steel deck plate
  2. Controlling local deformation of the deck plate by composite structurization
  3. Rapid retrofitting utilizing high-strength concrete precast panels
  4. Small-sized precast panels allowing human-powered construction
  5. Utilizing a newly developed adhesive to compose the precast panels and deck plate
